Type
Top-Entry Litter Box
Design
Modkat sports a very simple yet stylish and chic design that goes well with any type of furniture. It includes a seamless base paired with a swivel lid that locks in place, meaning there are no moving parts that could get loose or broken. The surface of the box is 100% smooth without any sharp corners or crevices. The box comes in white, gray, and black.
Dimensions
Modkat is ideal for smaller and medium cats. It measures:
  • 16" in length;
  • 16" in width;
  • 15" in height.

The height of the liner is 10".

Installation Process
Assembling Modkat includes 4 simple steps:
  • Push the four liner hooks into their designated corner slots;
  • Position the liner inside the base with the open side facing front;
  • Hang the liner grommets from their hooks;
  • Install the walk-off platform.
Scooping Proces
ModProducts LLC. recommends using an all-natural or organic clumping litter with the litter box. As for scooping, simply swivel the lid out of the way and gather the clumps with the provided scoop. If two cats are using the box, you should scoop at least once every day.
Noise Level
Modkat litter box emits zero noise.
Durability
Modkat is made of durable and pet-friendly materials. The liner is a commercial-grade tarp, which has application in countless fields due to its durability. The overall design of the box is pretty simple, so there is nothing that could be easily broken.
Odor Control
When it comes to urine, Modkat provides exquisite odor control thanks to its super absorbent liner. As far as poop is concerned, odor levels depend on your choice of litter.
Recommended For
Modkat is designed for smaller and medium cats (up to 12lbs). It is not suited for dogs or older cats that might have problems with jumping or climbing.
Suitable For Multiple Cats
Litter Compatibility
Modkat recommends using an all-natural or organic clumping litter.
Recommended Liners
Modkat comes with a proprietary reusable liner that should last for about 3 months. After that time, you can order replacements directly from the company.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Modkat does not require a lot of maintenance. Scooping frequency depends on your chosen litter and the number of cats using the box. The liner should be replaced every three months and you can also wash it with water and mild dish soap. You should completely replace the litter every month. DO NOT wash the liner in your dishwasher or washing machine.
Training Considerations
With Modkat, no special training is required. However, you can start off by placing it next to your cat's old litter box and allowing him or her to start using it gradually.
Safety Considerations
Modkat Litter Box is perfectly safe for your cat since it does not include any electrical components or sharp or protruding elements.

Litter Robot
Type
Automatic, Self-Cleaning Litter Box
Design
Litter Robot is a large, bisque-colored, innovatively designed litter box the size of a nightstand. It is made up of a base with a removable waste drawer, an ergonomically designed globular litter chamber with a large entryway, and a detachable protective bonnet over the litter chamber. In front of the chamber is a small, removable rubber step mat. Inside the chamber is a LED nightlight and on the front side of the base is a handy control panel with 4 vertically aligned buttons and 3 horizontally aligned indicator lights.
Dimensions
Litter Robot weighs 24 pounds and is roughly the size of a nightstand. Its exact dimensions are:
  • Fully Assembled Unit: 29.5″ x 24.25″ x 27” (HWD);
  • Entryway: 16″ x 10.25″ (HW);
  • Inner Globe Dimensions: 15″-17″ (dependent on litter amount) x 20″ x 20″ (HWD);
  • Litter Bed: 14″ maximum width;
  • Waste Drawer: 16” x 12.5” x 5” (HWD).
Installation Process
Litter Robot comes fully assembled, so you only have to plug the adapter into an outlet, add the litter, place a liner into the drawer, and push the power button.
Scooping Proces
With Litter Robot, there is no scooping. You simply need to empty the waste drawer when it is full.
Noise Level
Litter Robot emits a low humming noise during the 2.5-minute self-cleaning cycle. It is surprisingly quiet and not likely to alert cats who are not unusually sensitive to noise. If you keep the unit in your bedroom, you can use the sleep mode to prevent the device from starting the cleaning cycle for 8 hours, thus making sure it emits no noise while you are asleep.
Durability
Litter Robot is made of industrial-grade components, sturdy recyclable plastics, and heavy-duty rubber. It features a solid construction and it is built to last for many years.
Odor Control
With Litter Robot, odors are significantly reduced. The waste drawer is equipped with a large carbon filter that prevents most of the odor from escaping the drawer. The filter also prevents mold growth.
Recommended For
Litter Robot is best suited for naturally curious, non-diabetic cats weighing 5+ pounds
Suitable For Multiple Cats
Litter Compatibility
Litter Robot exclusively uses clumping litter, preferably high-quality clay clumping litter. You should not use absorbent-only, non-clumping, loose-clumping, newspaper-based litter or wood-based pellets. The litter recommended by the manufacturer is Litterbox.com All Natural Clumping Litter.
Recommended Liners
Litter Robot does not require special liners. You can use any 8-13 gallon trash bag or liner. However, if you are looking for the safest choice, the company does offer affordable, custom-fitted, biodegradable liners specially designed for Litter Robot.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Litter Robot is a low-maintenance litter box. You can clean the device every month or year, as needed. The globe is free from electrical elements, so you can freely wash it with plenty of water and mild soap and detergent. The same goes for the waste drawer. The base and the bonnet contain electrical components. Thus, you should just wipe them with a clean cloth, with no excess moisture. If you have 1 cat, you need to empty the waste drawer every 7-10 days.
Training Considerations
Litter Robot is an unusual litter box, so your cat may need help getting used to it. You should place it in the same spot as the old litter box. Pouring a handful of used litter into the globe may help your cat get used to it due to the familiar scent. Spraying some catnip or leaving treats inside or in front of the globe can be helpful as well. You should keep the device switched off during the first couple of days and stop cleaning the old litter box to make it less attractive. When your cat starts using Litter Robot, start the cleaning cycle manually with your cat in the room, so you can provide reassurance as he or she gets used to the humming noise and rotation of the globe.
Safety Considerations
Litter Robot is made with safety in mind. There are no rakes, wires or other potentially harmful elements and there are no shock hazards, as all electrical components are carefully concealed and away from your cat’s reach. If your cat jumps into the globe during the cleaning cycle, the globe will stop rotating immediately, as long as your cat weighs 5+ pounds, which is the cat sensor’s sensitivity threshold. If your cat weighs fewer than 5 pounds, it is a good idea to keep the device switched off and start the cleaning cycles manually.

    We’ve had it for around two months now and it definitely gets the job done. It’s also pretty easy to clean once you remove the top lid and you can even hang the scoop that came with it by the side. If you have large dogs in your home they will definitely try to get in and flip it in the process which will spill some of the litter on the floor. I definitely recommend putting it where dogs can’t get to it.

    Great litter box for shy cats who like their privacy while doing their business. An extra benefit is that our dog can’t really get in and start eating the poop (gross, I know). The box is pretty roomy but I don’t see it accommodating two or more cats, especially if they’re overly territorial.

    Not bad, but too damn expensive for a glorified s**tbucket!

    Great little box! I though my babies won’t be able to use it properly since they weren’t accustomed to top loaders, but it took them only a couple of days of sniffing and investigating and they love it now! I also have a cat that’s missing one leg, and would really wish she could use it too, but she can’t.

    Great litter box (if you can even call it a box) that helps us save a ton of time on cleaning and maintenance. On the other hand, our bank account definitely felt it.

    I was afraid this thing would be much louder than it actually is. Don’t get me wrong, you’ll hear it when it starts rotating but it’s not even close to what I expected and it’s not even that unpleasant of a sound to be honest.

    Come on, people, it's ridiculous to spend this kind of money on a litter box. My friend bought it and he's all psyched about it, and yeah, I've seen it work, it's great and stuff, but I'd never pay that much for something that basically just collects poop.

    I agree, worth every buck I spent on it. Yes, it's expensive, but you can't expect something like this to cost less, I'm just amazed someone was smart enough to invent it, it's the best litter box I've seen in my life.
